Title: Pricing Analyst

This position will be open to internal and external applicants and will close on Sunday, September 17, 2023.

This position pays between $74,880.00 to $93,600.00 and is based on skills, experience and education of the successful candidate.

POSITION CONCEPT
Under general supervision, applies a thorough knowledge and understanding of ratemaking economics, business, and regulatory practices to support effective market strategies, segment business plans, and Company regulatory strategies.
 

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Coordinates activities with the New Mexico and Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) Staffs, attorneys, and personnel in all areas of the Company.
2. Develop and/or maintain pricing/rate design computer models in database using IT programming languages such as SAS, SQL, C++, C# and/or business analytics software.
3. Establishes and oversees regulatory filing objectives based upon corporate goals and objectives including market segment plans.
4. Coordinates and supports the efforts of the Pricing Department to successfully meet the established objectives.
5. Prepares, reviews and coordinates testimony, exhibits, and related studies included in the case filing.
6. Prepares marginal and embedded cost analyses, pricing of bundled and unbundled services, demandside management cost-effectiveness studies, and regulatory strategy and case development.
7. Assists in development of testimony regarding rate design, pricing, unbundling and other analyses to support market and regulatory strategies, when necessary.
 

RELATIONSHIPS
Key Internal:
 Regular, frequent contact and communication with all levels of senior leadership, management and team members. Frequent internal contact with departments across the organization and affiliate companies.
Key External: Frequent external contact with NMPRC auditors/staff, FERC auditors/staff, attorneys, and internal as well as external auditors.



Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS


Education
Required
: Bachelor’s degree. Additional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree (see experience below).
Preferred: Master’s degree is preferred.

Licenses/Certifications
Required: Must possess a valid driver’s license and meet the acceptable driving record requirements of the Company.
 

EXPERIENCE
Direct Experience
Required: Minimum of four years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and/or experience related to the discipline. Preferred related experience with the following:
• Utility Pricing and Rates
• Utility Regulation
• Accounting, Finance or Budget
• General Business Analytics Software
• IT computer programming language
• Economic Analysis
• Mathematics or Statistics
Preferred: Six years of related experience.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities (KSA)
Required:
 Strong leadership and organization skills as well as excellent oral/written communications and presentation skills.
Preferred: Broad knowledge and understanding of integrated resources planning, demand side management strategies, incentive rate design, and cost-effectiveness testimony.
Thorough understanding of regulatory procedures, pricing theory, regulated ratemaking techniques and negotiating skills. In depth knowledge of the gas utility industry, the filing requirements and appropriate procedures for both the state and federal jurisdictions.
